Listings are other people's; here is how we handle them, and yours.
Genkan is a free community resource for Japan's startup scene, run from Tokyo by Sunshine Burri and provided as is. Using it means agreeing to the few things below.
Listings are third-party and may change
Events, spaces, communities, jobs, news items and the programmes in our guides are run by other people. We show public facts as the organiser, venue or operator published them, and link to their own page. We are not the organiser, the venue or the operator, we are not a party to anything you book, pay for or join, and details change without notice. Always confirm the date, price, deadline or rule on the official page before you act on it.
Where an organiser, a community or a venue has published a picture or a logo of its own (an event's cover, a photograph of the place on its own website), we show a small copy of it beside the listing, linked to their page. The picture remains theirs.
Information is a guide, not advice
Our visa, grant and company-setup guides are written to be accurate on the date shown on each one, and they are still a guide. Genkan is not legal, financial, tax or immigration advice. For a decision that matters, check the official source we link to or ask a professional.
Corrections and removal
If you run something listed here and it is wrong, out of date, or you would rather it (or its picture) were not shown, email hello@thegenkan.com with the link. We correct or remove it within a few days and reply to say so.
What you submit
When you submit an event, suggest a spot or send feedback, you give us permission to publish it on Genkan, edited for length and clarity, with your first name on spot comments if you gave one. We review everything by hand, we may decline or remove a submission, and nothing is guaranteed to be published. Submit only what you have the right to share, and nothing unlawful, misleading or abusive.
Acceptable use
Read, share links, bring friends. Do not copy the site wholesale, scrape it as a feed, use the forms to send spam or test attacks, or pass our listings off as your own. If you want to reuse our data for something useful, ask; we are usually glad to help.
No warranty, limited liability
We work hard to keep Genkan right, and it is offered without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from using the site, from a listing being wrong or withdrawn, or from anything on a site we link to.

Changes and law
We may update these terms; the date below changes when we do. They are governed by the laws of Japan, and any dispute goes to the Tokyo District Court.
